I moved this weekend into my new apartment near work. Nothing more liberating than finally leaving the house you’ve spent all your time in as a child, teenager and young adult. My view would be spectacular if it weren’t for the trees that clog my line of vision from my balcony. That’s the preemptive statement I tell everyone who asks how my new apartment is. Views are very important to me. That’s why I am that apartment complex and not another. It sits high on a hill right on the freeway and has such amazing views of the city and the Hill Country. Unfortunately for me, the Hill Country is right at my window in the form of that tree thats sticks up and waves its ugly branch in my face in its stylish mocking fashion. I digress.

Aside from his new role in the screen adaptation of the popular Sophie Kinsella books, “Confessions of a Shopaholic,” news about Hugh Dancy has been sparse. Last Tuesday there were pictures of him walking home (with his iPhone in hand) from the gym in SoHo. Today when I checked hughdancy.info, the site’s fabulous webmistress, Anna, had posted several pictures of Hugh and Claire (ugh) on the Isle of Man where she’s filming “Me and Orson Welles” with Zac Efron. The pictures, which were originally posted on JustJared.com, depict Hugh and Claire (ugh) at the aiport where they were reportedly jetting off for some romantic weekend getaway. Anna also posted four pictures of Hugh on set of “Confessions of a Shopaholic” and I must say that in all three picture updates, Hugh is looking, um, tired and unprepossessing. In the past (and by past I mean prior to Claire Danes) he always looked six years younger than he was no matter his age (and not to mention continuously handsome). In these latest pictures he’s looking all of his 32 years. I know he’s been working a lot, but I can’t help but think that Claire Danes is making him ugly. I mean, look what she did to Billy Crudup.
From hughdancy.info, I’ve posted a picture of Hugh from the set of “Confessions of a Shopaholic” and his post-workout stroll in SoHo. Visit JustJared.com to see pictures of Hugh and Claire at the Isle of Man airport and having drinks with friends.
Am I growing tired of you, Hugh, or are you being Claireuglied?
WHAT’S HAPPENED TO MY HANDSOME HUGH!?!?!?! RETURN HIM AT ONCE, YOU CLAIRE DANES YOU!!

Paging through a couple of Tumblelogs just now that are listed on Tumblr’s “Sweet Themes” page. I must say all of those gorgeous and creative Tumblelogs makes me want to take serious CSS and XHTML classes. I have a working knowledge of HTML, and learned how to use Dreamweaver through a book. After finishing 80% of that book, I took it upon myself to redesign my company’s website. Everyone was impressed by it but me. As much as a step up from our previous website as it is, I just don’t feel that it’s on par with what I feel I can do with proper training. Fortunately my boss gave me stellar reviews on my performance evaluation today and said if I found a web design class that I wanted to take to let him know and they would pay. I’ll start looking for some tomorrow, and hopefully I’ll be able to channel all of the ideas in my head into something that I can view as remarkable. I am by default my own worst critic.
In light of my “outstanding” performance evaluation today, I think I’ll treat myself to some retail delights. This month leaves me with a vague recollection of what the page of my iCal looked like before it became littered with a million appointments, meetings, and to-dos. Therefore, I’ll most likely drop considerable capital at designbyhumans.com. I found out about this company through Garrett Murray’s tumblelog (his was one of those featured on the Sweet Themes page). Their shirts are by and large the most awesome, innovative and creative shirts I’ve ever seen. I’m going to look even more so cool now! I’ve only skimmed the first three pages of the women’s section and so far want every shirt I’ve seen. Especially this one, this one, this one and this one. There are so many more, but I’m tired of posting the links so just go to their site and know that I love all of those t-shirts. I’ll post pictures on my Flickr once the first batch that I order arrives.
Mail was fun today. My 1 Second Film business cards came in!

Caught Cate Blanchett’s performance in “The Man Who Cried.” This only just reiterates how gifted and skilled she is at her craft. Cate plays Lola, a Russian living in Paris who befriends the protagonist, Christina Ricci. The film is set in pre World War II Paris and follows a young Russian Jewish girl named Suzie (Ricci) who leaves her adopted family in England in search of her family from whom she was separated at a young age. With her beautiful singing voice she finds a job in a theatre where she meets Lola. Eventually she falls in love with a gypsy who also works at the theatre named Caesar (Johnny Depp). The film’s cinematography is superb, but the acting (aside from Cate’s, of course) is just alright. Cate’s Russian accent is spot on, but Christina Ricci should have spent more time with her dialect coach while she was learning her English accent. Overall the film is great, but that’s probably only because Cate Blanchett is too good.
