“The Dog Door” is based on the novel “Goodbye, Ravine” by Konstantin Sergiyenk, and it’s absolutely splendid. I especially liked the little dachshund. I must warn, though, it is a bit of a tear-jerker. Good thing I’m in here all by myself.

Thanks, Kat!

This is my favorite reading of Pushkin’s “Я Вас Любил”

I loved you: and perhaps I love you still,
The flame, perhaps, is not extinguished yet
It burns so quietly within my soul,
No longer should you feel distressed by it.
Silently and hopelessly I loved you,
At times too jealous and at times too shy.
God grant you find another who will love you
As tenderly and truthfully as I.

Я вас любил: любовь еще, быть может,
В душе моей угасла не совсем;
Но пусть она вас больше не тревожит;
Я не хочу печалить вас ничем.
Я вас любил безмолвно, безнадежно,
То робостью, то ревностью томим;
Я вас любил так искренно, так нежно,
Как дай вам Бог любимой быть другим.

“So, in May 2006, Cahlik enrolled in a faculty-led Russian language program taking place at Moscow State University. At Moscow State, Cahlik and fellow international students stayed at a “Brezhnev-era dungeon” that supposedly was the same dorm where future Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice once studied.”

What? No one told me the Moscow dorm I lived in was supposedly the same one Condoleezza Rice stayed in. Lara … did you know?

Can’t say I’m too surprised by this as ‘The Office” seems to be duplicating all over the place. That said, I think the Russian version will be really good just as their (unauthorized) version of “Married with Children” is. Счастливы Вместе!
